Hīkoi to connect Tūhourangi iwi to the various areas of their rohe and expand the understanding of where our boundaries lie. Kākaramea is a south eastern boundary marker and was the tip of Roto-Pare 6P, we also have some stories which connect us to this area which we can share. The view from the top can also give us an appreciation of the Tarawera lakes from a different angle. We also aim to collect some paru/uku/kōkōwai to craft/dye some materials. Examples for creating pūoro, dying fabrics, crafting bowls etc.
We will then travel over to Lake Ōkaro where we will give a short kōrero on some of the immediate mahi going on and the challenges for this lake and some of the historical context. Some of us will then be leading the crafts activity and some will be cooking on the BBQ.
